Interview of Ruberto Fortunato from the Spanish Group after the Training Course in Armenia "Face2Faith" 2019

According to your opinion, what drives interfaith radicalization?

To start with, youth are future of humankind, their attitude about relationship with different people, with different religions is so much important. In my opinion, interfaith radicalism is coused by stereotypes, traditions, illiteracy, also goverments and family. On the way of finding truth, it is easy to affect on youth’s choises, because usually they believe what surrounded people think. They use young children for their reasons, because it is easier to manipulate with them, also to made them believe what they think and believe.

What is the role of youth organizations/NGOs in the prevention of interfaith radicalisation?

As I mentiond, illiteracy is one of the main reason of radicalisation and violent extremism. Role of young organizations and NGOs are so important, because they try to deepen relationship between defferent nations, different religions and traditions. This is huge role in forming young people’s freethoungt, critical thinking and sanity. They play a meaningful advisory and partnership role in the prevention of interfaith radicalism, because they encourage people to be tolerant, to appreciate different people and their rights.

What can we do to protect young people from extremist influences in the online environment? What are your tips for staying safe online?

In my opinion, we can not prohibid people not to see some information online, but we can show them what is good or bad, for example, we can show to young people results of extremism: so many dead people, conflict between countries, religions, traditions. We can teach them tolerance, love, respect and protect youth from online extremist influences.
